Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam
Unpaid
No Dutch required / unknown
Description
This is a joint team of TU Delft and VU Amsterdam, founded in 2010, that builds super-aerodynamic recumbent bicycles, the VeloX, to break the world speed record for human-powered vehicles during the races in Battle Mountain, Nevada. In 2013 the team already reached 133.78 km/h, and it has been chasing even higher speeds since. The engineers from Delft design and build the bike, while the human movement scientists from Amsterdam select and train the athletes. It is a unique combination of engineering and elite sport in one project.
